catching fall in steamboat springs
fall in colorado is very different from the northeast - there, multiple colors abound, with hues ranging from red to purple to orange. colorado boasts a more simple palette with two very rich colors taking center stage - gold and dark green. driving to the mountains is such a delight - a sea of forest green peppered with gold almost looks like someone turned on a distant light.
steamboat didn't disappoint, either. the first evening, we took a gondola to the top of the mountain for a sunset happy hour with dancing, banjo picking and unreal views of the valley. the next day, breakfast at creekside (a must) followed by a much-needed walk along the yampa river and a visit to strawberry hot springs. all in all, a relaxing weekend that left us with excitement for ski season there.
